MCD Inc.

History

Since 1966 MCD Public Health has been a transforming force in public health, earning a reputation for responsive, innovative health initiatives that make an impact. Our highly qualified staff members share a passionate commitment to creating, implementing, and supporting results-based programs that improve the quality of people's lives on a daily basis.

Our parent organization, Medical Care Development (MCD), was incorporated as a not-for-profit in 1966 to serve as a Regional Medical Program for heart, cancer, and stroke in Maine, USA. Founded by all of the major health interests and organizations in Maine at the time, MCD has always been a valued forum for fostering collaboration and initiating projects to address gaps in knowledge, resources, or services.

Over the years, MCD Public Health has spearheaded hundreds of initiatives that have deeply impacted public health and well-being. Our track record includes notable accomplishments in rural health, clinical quality improvement, and development of new programs and organizations.

What's next?

Today, MCD Public Health initiatives include a wide range of services and content areas, including physical activity and nutrition, oral health, substance abuse, maternal and child health, senior health, health promotion, and worksite wellness, as well as disease-specific programs in cardiovascular health, cancer, stroke, and diabetes. As we expand our focus nationally and internationally, our work continues to be shaped by our Maine roots and our rich organizational history of professionalism, collaboration, creativity, and results.
