MCD Inc.
The New York State Telehealth Training Portal will serve as an open-access, interdisciplinary gateway to deliver peer-reviewed telehealth education to the health care workforce across New York State. Under the guidance of a Telehealth Education Advisory Group, the Portal will establish training modules that address the full scope of telehealth program implementation, management, and practice, with topis ranging from "What is Telehealth" to provider etiquette best practices.
Telehealth, defined by the New York State Department of Health as the use of electronic information and communication technologies to deliver health care to patients at a distance, has become an essential tool to enable access to health care services. The Telehealth Training Portal aims to develop, improve, and maintain the telehealth competencies of medical and behavioral health providers across the State, as well as students, administrative leaders, and all others who support and enable telehealth services. Telehealth is not considered a "new" specialty or service, but another mechanism or tool to deliver standard care. As telehealth becomes a permanent part of practice, basic training is essential to ensure quality of service.
